This historic building was beautifully restored over three years (2007 - 2010) and many of the interior finishes are original. Take the architectural tour that is free to hotel guests and very interesting. Our room was nicely furnished and decorated with high quality items throughout and conveniences such as two bedside lamps (one for general lighting and a smaller one for reading only) on both sides of the king sized bed. The room was not big by modern standards, but it was adequate. The giant bathroom had a large, claw foot tub; a separate oversized shower with bench, a toilet compartment with obscured glass door, and two marble topped sink stands as well as a spacious marble floor and upholstered bench, and a flat screen T.V. to be viewed from the tub.

The location is great, two minutes walk and you can reach the bund. The decor of the lobby and the bathroom is amazing, i love the separated Victoria style bathtub. They charged 99RMB for internet for a day, but it is alright. Service was great, staffs are all helpful and lively. Didnt dine in the hotel restaurant, ordered the room service though, food was actually tasty and presentation was lovely. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel with impeccable service, located in an unparalleled spot on The Bund. The stunning foyer and rooms provided a dose of history. The knowledgeable guide, Hebe Zhang, made our hotel tour truly special. The Sunday brunch at the Cathay Room was incredible, with fresh seafood and a magnificent view of The Bund. I highly recommend this historic hotel.

We had a wonderful time in this iconic hotel in Shanghai. The place had an exclusive atmosphere. Liked how the fairmont king room was arranged when we arrived. The breakfast was wonderful and delicious with beer and such a nice view, for example, and the team was excellent and kept the space fairly clean.

Utter attention to detail makes it a reassuring bubble from the frenzy of Shanghai.
The Bund is lovely and historic but not the most exciting bit of Shanghai.

As young holiday goers, we absolutely loved the jazz bar experience and the incredible afternoon tea in the Executive lounge. the view from the rooftop was fantastic, and the hotel room was wonderful. the breakfast was lavish and the staff were lovely. the extra benefits of having an exec room were well worth the money. We also appreciated the finishing touches like mouthwash and great toiletries.
Felt so relaxed, no reason to complain.
